The project involves the restoration of a historic rural building in the Municipality of Amendolara, comprising two residential units distributed across the ground and first floors. The property is located within an area of significant public interest and is subject to landscape protection under Legislative Decree No. 42/2004, as part of the protected coastal and hilly landscape system. Given the building’s traditional rural typology, the design approach sought to preserve its typological and morphological characteristics, in accordance with the guidelines of the Superintendency. The most significant interventions focused on adapting the existing openings to meet new functional and residential requirements. Seismic safety was a central aspect of the project, which involved the insertion of a reinforced concrete frame within the existing masonry, together with localized strengthening and consolidation works and the complete reconstruction of the timber roofs. The objective was to achieve the seismic upgrading of the building in accordance with the criteria and safety levels established by the Italian Technical Standards for Construction (NTC 2018), without compromising its original architectural and typological characteristics.
